Zagat is bringing you some additional dinner and beer specials during NYC Craft Beer week. This is of course on top of the Beer Walks, Whole Foods Events and seminars. Check the link below for the Beer Week Events page for further details. Regardless, I wanted to shed light on the more affordable Zagat specials. $40 for a 3 course meal with beer paring at the following locations
- Black Forty: 190 Ave B, Manhattan
- Jimmy’s No 43: 43 E Seventh Street, Manhattan
- The Good Fork: 391 Van Buren St, Brooklyn
- Little Giant: 85 Orchard St, Manhattan
- Hundred Acres: 38 MacDougal St., Manhattan
- The Redhead: 349 E 13th St, Manhattan
There are also pre-fixe menus with beer pairings at Resto, Tabla, Mas and Per Se, BUT those range from $90 a person to $350 a person; and well if you can afford $350 a person not sure how you ended up at a Recession Special website! I suggest you just donate to the site instead! Does not hurt to ask!

Times are tough for all. A relatively new radio station Pulse 87 is going out of business. They have been in business for about a year and have been the source for dance music in NYC. And if you are not in NYC, you can listen to them online; which what I would do during my business travels.
So if you have some extra cash to spare, Pulse is looking for donations to stay in business. Instead of spending that $100 at the bars this weekend, you could help save jobs and a great radio station.

If you have not heard about it, then first things first check out The Accomplice Tour. It is mix of a show, tour, scavenger hunt, and an overall great experience. And the best part, the tickets are on sale for $40 if you purchase by July 15th. Use the coupon code “SAMMY.” They have 3 shows, NY Downtown, NY Greenwich Village and Hollywood.
Being a NY Blog we only care about the 2 NY shows. I have been a part of the NY Downtown experience, and have nothing but amazing things to say about it! It is a must see!
The folks over at hapnin.com hooked us up with this cool little feature which we choose to call Whats On Now. You will notice on the page links on top one that says “Whats On Now.” On this page you can find specials going on RIGHT NOW! You can filter by neighborhood, time and look few days into the future.
Enjoy the feature.. play around with it and give us your feedback.

The following is a tip from Blair at Wiredset.
No two drink minimum necessary at this venue, it’s entirely free. On Friday, June 19, New York City’s Central Park turns into “COMEDY CENTRAL Park,” a night of free stand-up comedy Live from SummerStage. The outdoor venue is located at mid-Central Park (near the Fifth Avenue & 72nd Street entrance) with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. and the show starting at 8:00 p.m. This is the third consecutive year COMEDY CENTRAL has participated in this hugely successful event.
This year’s presentation of “COMEDY CENTRAL Park” will feature comedian Gabriel Iglesias, who blends his impeccable voice skills with an uncanny knack for animated comedic storytelling that bring his issues to life, and special guest Pablo Francisco, who has an unbelievable ability to physically morph himself into movie stars, singers, friends, family, and a multitude of nationalities. Outback Steakhouse and All-Natural Snapple are the proud sponsors of “COMEDY CENTRAL Park.”
If you do not know who Gabriel Iglesias is then you need to go.. and if you do know who he is then you know you want to go. I have been a fan of his since I saw him on Last Comic Standing. And if you have not heard them yet the shenanigans of him and his buddy Felipe will have you ROFL!

Who can resist a sign that says “Buns all Day” and then only for $1.29. I just saw this sign as I was walking down 14th Street the other day and I had to share. I have never eaten at Vaness’a, and did not stop in to get more details on their specials, but feel free to call them, find out and if you take in the buns please let us know what you think.
According to their Twitter updates (Tweets?, I guess that is what they are called) Cupcake Stop is giving out free cupcakes today (June 9th) due to the rain.
